"Literature Links" begins at about 20:00, but be sure to check out the other three stories in this week's show.
- "The Leader in Me" is another book-related story which is about teaching students The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (the audio-cassette version of which I used to keep stashed in the glovebox of my last car).
- "Civic Responsibility" is about the insights students gain through service learning trips.
- "Moving Schools Out of Blame" is a story about helping teachers hone their skills. It's notable because it features Soaring Heights Charter School in Jersey City, one of New Jersey's 13 original charter schools. I've been told that this is the first time a charter school has ever been featured on the show. Most people I talk to are surprised to learn (as I was initially) that the NJEA actually supports the concept of charter schools.
Next week: Mural Club! (which has since been retitled, "Get on the Wall")
